  1. 1. Lift weights 3-4 times a week. It will increase basal metabolic rate
    2. Consume 1g protein to 1lb of lean body mass
    3. Have a carbup/refeed every few weeks to prevent your metabolism from crashing
    4. 3-6g vitamin c per day to reduce cortisol

    You can’t continue to reduce calories, eventually your metabolism will get used to the minimal calories. It’s a good idea to reverse diet when you hit a plateau adding 100 calories or so every week until you start adding weight. When that happens, cut back down 100cals or so and your weight will eventually stabilise. Then you can start cutting calories again if you need to do so. If you’ve been subsiting on 1300 cals or so for a long period of time, your metabolism is probably shot to shit and you will have to up your calories very slowly. Think periodisation instead of a linear approach. You can’t cut 2lbs a week for perpetuity no more than you can keep adding 10lbs to your bench every week forever.

    You need a decent amount of protein in your diet. In a calorie deficit your body will break down muscle before it will lose fat beyond a certain level. Eventually this will tank your metabolism.

    It’s worth getting thyroid and testosterone levels checked if your 40. If these are too low, it will make fat loss extremely difficult. If they’re low, up your fats (whilst counting calories – it’s still easy to get fat on a ketogenic/atkins type diet if you’re stuffing your face with cheese and bacon).

    No magick needed, unless you want to fire off a sigil to keep your motivation high (although a fortnightly refeed will do much more than a sigil ever will for that).

      For the moment I am just going to continue what I am doing as it is working for me. I have lost a further 7 pound in the last month and 47 in total and I don’t have much left to go. 10 to 15 pound or so.

      Don;t take what follows the wrong way but I have spoken about this a number of times now and therefore I won’t get too deep into again – but what I am doing is the only thing that works for me. I have tried all the other stuff you mentioned (and lots more) and what I am doing is the only thing that works for me.

      I will stress again that What I am doing is the only thing that works for me because I have had this conversation so often these days and it just feels that people absolutely don’t believe you or don’t want to believe you when you say that what I am doing is the only thing that works for me.
